The batteries that came with the toy were dead, and I was concerned that the toy might be broken - but we were able to find replacements at a Best Buy --Medical N type -- for $8 and the motor was fine. Quite a fun little toy and very worth the cost. The motor is quite strong, and the batteries have lasted through multiple sessions.
